How to install whatismyipadd as an app
Add whatismyipadd to your home screen or desktop in a few taps on iPhone, Android, Windows, or Mac. Free, tiny, and always one tap away.
You can keep whatismyipadd one tap away, like an app, without going to an app store. It opens in its own window, with no address bar, straight to your IP address.
What you get
- One-tap access from your home screen, dock, taskbar, or app list.
- Shortcuts. On Android, and often in Chrome or Edge on a computer, press and hold or right-click the icon to jump straight to your IP address, Fix my internet, Is it down?, or Spot the scam.
- Pages you've opened before still open without a connection. Your IP address and the tests need the internet, since there's nothing to measure without it.
- No account, no app store, and almost no space. The site updates itself each time you open it, and it doesn't send you notifications.
How to install it
iPhone and iPad (Safari)
- Open whatismyipadd.com in Safari.
- Tap the Share button, the square with an arrow pointing up.
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.
Newer versions of iOS also allow this from some other browsers, but Safari works on all of them.
Android (Chrome)
- Open whatismyipadd.com in Chrome.
- Tap the menu button (three dots), then Install app. On some phones it's called Add to Home screen.
- Tap Install.
Windows, Mac, and Chromebook (Chrome or Edge)
- Open whatismyipadd.com.
- Click the install icon at the right end of the address bar. It looks like a screen with a small arrow.
- If you don't see it, open the browser menu and look for Install whatismyipadd. In Chrome it can be under Save and share. In Edge, go to Apps, then Install this site as an app.
Mac (Safari)
On recent versions of macOS, open the site in Safari and choose File, then Add to Dock.
Firefox
Firefox on Android has an Install option in its menu. Firefox on computers can't install websites as apps, so bookmark the page instead.
Menu names change between browser versions. If you don't see these options, search the menu for "install" or "add to home screen".
Removing it
Remove it like any other app: press and hold the icon on a phone and choose Remove or Uninstall, or use the app's own menu on a computer.
What gets saved on your device
To open pages without a connection, your browser keeps a copy of the pages and files you've opened, up to about 40 pages. It stays on your device, and online you always get the current version. Nothing from your tests or your IP address is saved this way. You can remove the copies at any time.
