How to find your IP address on Android

On most Android phones

1. Open Settings and tap Network & internet, then Internet.
2. Tap the gear icon next to your Wi-Fi network.
3. Your IP address is listed under network details. You may need to scroll down or tap Advanced.

On Samsung Galaxy phones

1. Open Settings and tap Connections, then Wi-Fi.
2. Tap the gear icon next to your connected network.
3. Tap View more if needed to see the IP address.

Another route on most phones: Settings > About phone > Status (on Samsung, Status information) lists the IP address too.

Menu names vary between brands and Android versions. If you can't find it, type "IP address" into the search bar at the top of Settings.

What about mobile data?

On mobile data, your carrier assigns the public address websites see, and it can change often. Open our home page in your browser to see it.

Finding your router's address

Some Android versions show the router as Gateway in the same network details screen. If yours doesn't, check the label on your router or try the common addresses in our router login guide.

Common questions

Why is my Android stuck on "Obtaining IP address"?

Your phone isn't getting an address from the router. Try forgetting the network and reconnecting, restarting the router, and checking that the router isn't blocking new devices. Very full networks can run out of addresses too.

Can I give my Android phone a fixed IP address?

Yes. Open the network's settings, find IP settings (sometimes under Advanced), and switch from DHCP to Static. Reserving an address for the phone in your router's settings is usually easier to manage.

Why does my phone show two IP addresses?

One is usually IPv4 (like 192.168.1.23) and the other IPv6 (letters and numbers separated by colons). Most networks use both. See IPv4 vs IPv6.

Does my IP address change on mobile data?

Often, yes. Carriers frequently assign a new public address as you move or reconnect, and many share one public address among lots of customers.
