How to find your IP address on iPhone

Find your iPhone's Wi-Fi IP address

1. Open Settings and tap Wi-Fi.
2. Tap the ⓘ button next to the network you're connected to.
3. Scroll to IPv4 Address. Your address is next to IP Address, and your router's address is next to Router.

The same steps work on iPad.

What about mobile data?

iPhone doesn't show its mobile data IP address in Settings. When you're on mobile data, your carrier assigns the public address websites see. Open our home page in Safari to see it.

Get a new IP address

On the same Wi-Fi details screen, tap Renew Lease to ask your router for a fresh local address. This can fix some connection problems. It doesn't change your public IP. See how to change your IP address for that.

What's "Private Wi-Fi Address"?

That setting is about your iPhone's MAC address, a hardware ID on the local network, not your IP address. When it's on, your iPhone uses a different MAC address for each network to make tracking harder.

Common questions

Why does my iPhone show an IP address starting with 169.254?

That's a self-assigned address. It means your iPhone couldn't get an address from the router. Turn Wi-Fi off and on, tap Renew Lease on the network's details screen, or restart your router.

Is my iPhone's IP address the same as my Wi-Fi's?

Not quite. Your iPhone has its own private address inside your network, but it shares your router's public address with every other device on the same Wi-Fi. Websites see the public one.

Does my iPhone's IP address change?

It can. Your router may give it a different private address after it reconnects, and your public address changes whenever your internet provider assigns a new one or you switch to mobile data.

Can I set a fixed IP address on iPhone?

Yes. On the network's details screen, tap Configure IP, choose Manual, and enter the address, subnet mask, and router. A simpler option is to reserve an address for your iPhone in your router's settings.
