Google is the world's most used search engine. When Google stops loading, the question is always the same: is the service down for everyone, or is the problem on your side? The check above visits google.com right now from Cloudflare's network, so you get an answer in a few seconds.

If Google is up but not working for you

Check whether a different search engine loads. If it does and Google doesn't, the problem is specific to Google or to your DNS.
Try the Google app instead of the browser, or the other way round.
Switch your DNS to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 if only a few sites fail to load.
Still stuck? Run our connection troubleshooter. It measures your connection and points to the most likely cause.

Common questions

Is Google down for everyone or just me?

Our check visits google.com from a Cloudflare server, far away from your connection. If it answers there but not for you, the problem is most likely your Wi-Fi, internet provider, DNS, VPN, or the app. If it doesn't answer there either, Google is probably down for many people. A single check can be wrong, so try again in a minute before you decide.

Why is Google not working?

The usual causes are Google having a real outage or maintenance, your Wi-Fi or internet provider, a DNS problem, a VPN or ad blocker, an out-of-date app or browser, or the wrong date and time on your device. Work through the steps above from the easiest to the hardest.

What does "up, but blocking checks" mean?

Some large sites refuse requests that come from servers rather than ordinary browsers. If the check says the site responded but blocked it, the site is almost certainly working, and the check just can't see more than that.

Where is the official Google status page?

We aren't aware of a public status page from Google. The company's help center and its official support account on social media are the best places to look for confirmed problems.
