YouTube is Google's video service, watched on phones, computers, smart TVs, and game consoles. When YouTube stops loading, the question is always the same: is the service down for everyone, or is the problem on your side? The check above visits youtube.com right now from Cloudflare's network, so you get an answer in a few seconds.

If YouTube is up but not working for you

Play something else, or the same thing on another device such as your phone on mobile data. If it works there, the problem is your Wi-Fi, your app, or your browser.
Close the YouTube app completely and reopen it, or reload the page with Ctrl + Shift + R. Updating the app often clears playback errors.
Pause downloads and other streams on your network. Streaming needs steady speed, which our troubleshooter can check.
Still stuck? Run our connection troubleshooter. It measures your connection and points to the most likely cause.

Common questions

Is YouTube down for everyone or just me?

Our check visits youtube.com from a Cloudflare server, far away from your connection. If it answers there but not for you, the problem is most likely your Wi-Fi, internet provider, DNS, VPN, or the app. If it doesn't answer there either, YouTube is probably down for many people. A single check can be wrong, so try again in a minute before you decide.

Why is YouTube not working?

The usual causes are YouTube having a real outage or maintenance, your Wi-Fi or internet provider, a DNS problem, a VPN or ad blocker, an out-of-date app or browser, or the wrong date and time on your device. Work through the steps above from the easiest to the hardest.

What does "up, but blocking checks" mean?

Some large sites refuse requests that come from servers rather than ordinary browsers. If the check says the site responded but blocked it, the site is almost certainly working, and the check just can't see more than that.

Where is the official YouTube status page?

We aren't aware of a public status page from YouTube. The company's help center and its official support account on social media are the best places to look for confirmed problems.
