ChatGPT is OpenAI's AI chat assistant. When ChatGPT stops loading, the question is always the same: is the service down for everyone, or is the problem on your side? The check above visits chatgpt.com right now from Cloudflare's network, so you get an answer in a few seconds.

If ChatGPT is up but not working for you

Start a new chat or refresh the page. A single conversation can fail while the service itself is fine.
Log out and back in, and try a private window to rule out a browser extension.
Busy periods can cause slow replies or capacity messages. Waiting a few minutes often helps.
Still stuck? Run our connection troubleshooter. It measures your connection and points to the most likely cause.

Official status

ChatGPT publishes its own status page: OpenAI Status. If it lists an incident, that confirms the problem is on ChatGPT's side.

Common questions

Is ChatGPT down for everyone or just me?

Our check visits chatgpt.com from a Cloudflare server, far away from your connection. If it answers there but not for you, the problem is most likely your Wi-Fi, internet provider, DNS, VPN, or the app. If it doesn't answer there either, ChatGPT is probably down for many people. A single check can be wrong, so try again in a minute before you decide.

Why is ChatGPT not working?

The usual causes are ChatGPT having a real outage or maintenance, your Wi-Fi or internet provider, a DNS problem, a VPN or ad blocker, an out-of-date app or browser, or the wrong date and time on your device. Work through the steps above from the easiest to the hardest.

What does "up, but blocking checks" mean?

Some large sites refuse requests that come from servers rather than ordinary browsers. If the check says the site responded but blocked it, the site is almost certainly working, and the check just can't see more than that.

Where is the official ChatGPT status page?

ChatGPT publishes one: OpenAI Status. It is the best place to see confirmed incidents and updates.
